Family Fun Evening - 16th June 2018

Barn Dance - 11th May 2018

The Senior School Hall resounded to the music of Brewhaha as our Barn Dancers weaved in and out and circled around under the expert guidance of our caller!
Laughter and a sense of achievement mingled together as during a well deserved break the hot dogs and ice creams were consumed.
Throughout proceedings the Hall Scarecrows looked on, with the prize winning “Lost and Found” by Stourhead in the lead. Many congratulations to all the Senior girls who devised and created the scarecrows and the staff who supported and encouraged them.
The Circus Cows decorated by the Prep School Houses added a certain glamour to the occasion with the Earth Cow being judged as the winner. Thanks to Mrs Bennett for providing the cow outlines.
Thank you also to the parents, girls and staff who supported the event.  The PSA Committee

Burns Night Supper - 26th January 2018

Robbie Burns would have been proud of BSG on Friday 26th January when Burns Night was celebrated in style! Highland dress, the pipes, the Address Tae the Haggis, plenty of chatter and laughter and a wee drop of whisky! For one night only, Scotland had arrived in Somerset!

Guests gathered in Hobhouse for pre-dinner Atholl Brose (look the recipe up  - delicious!) before being piped into the splendidly decorated dining room by Mr T-P (special mention later).

Then followed the most delicious Burns Night supper produced by the wonderful Melissa and her team – a slight deviation from the normal school meals methinks (and hope considering that whisky seemed to be a common ingredient throughout)!

Mr Andy Ball – School Estates Bursar and Compere for the evening – addressed the haggis in style and provided great entertainment throughout the evening reciting poems from the great Scottish poet himself to inviting guests to join in as he recounted the tale of Tam O’Shanter complete with Maggie the horse, Tam O’Shanter, a flirtatious landlady and the witches (no guessing who)?!

Mr T-P excelled himself on the pipes and added a wonderful atmosphere to the evening especially when the haggis was paraded into the room to the traditional slow hand clap – gorgeous! Roll on Friday 25th January 2019 – save the date now! Well worth it…!

Prep School Shopping Event - 8th December 2017

Quiz Night - 17th November 2017

PSA Race Night - 6th October 2017

The Race Night was well attended with equal numbers of parents, pupils and staff. There were lots of healthy snacks and crisps on each table and a well-stocked bar!  Before the first race began we were all invited to place our bets; we could also choose to be an owner or a jockey. This was very exciting as Naomi on our table was the first winning jockey, and she had bet on the horse too, so won a box of chocolates and a pile of pound coins!

As the evening went on there were many more winners, along with a delicious hot dog and an enjoyable raffle run by the Senior 5s. By the last race everyone was so engrossed that each horse had an owner and jockey, and the stakes were very high! Up to then I hadn't won anything but decided put the last of my money on Spartacus, the horse our tutor group had named. My mum bought Spartacus, and lots of others bet on him too. Therefore it was cheers all round when Spartacus romped in first; such a thrilling end to a tremendous night!

The evening raised £800 which will be used to fund activities and projects such as those enjoyed during Green Week, the new Outdoor Education Shelter and the forthcoming Art Walk.  Thank you to the PSA and to all the sponsors of the races.

Lucy R, Senior 2

Sponsors: At The Chapel, Barbers Cheese, Banks Farm, HRd Bristol, Mendip Fireplaces, Paul Nichols Racing, Rose and Lyons and White Lake Cheeses.

Barn Dance - Friday 28th April 2017

All who attended our Barn Dance, which was led by local band Brewhaha, had a lively and energetic evening. They guided us through lots of dances with a lot of laughter along the way. The tasty refreshments were provided by Melissa and her team and were up to their usual high standard. Along the way we raised almost £150 - well done!

PSA Quiz - Friday 13th January 2017

Thank you to all those who came and took part with so much energy, enthusiasm and volume at the recent PSA Quiz! Thanks to our quiz master, Dominic, who achieved a good balance of questions that kept both young and not so young entertained.

Huge thanks also to Taylor's Bakery in Bruton and Barber's Cheese for supplying a delicious bread and cheese supper.

Without the generous support of them and those who attended we would not have raised £765, which is fantastic!

See you all next January for a re-match!
