Aspiring actors from Castle Cary, Mere, Upton Noble and Sherborne Abbey Primary Schools put their talents to the test at a musical theatre workshop held by the Drama and Music Departments at Bruton School for Girls.
The ten and eleven year olds were invited to join in rehearsals ahead of Bruton’s summer performance of ‘Grease the Musical’. This included learning the ‘Greased Lightning’ song and dance routine with tutoring from a professional choreographer, plus being given an insight into the technical side of a stage production.
Mrs Rebecca Hurstwaite, Head of Drama at Bruton School for Girls, explained: “I was amazed to see how enthusiastic they all were and so eager to soak up the tips and techniques they were being shown.
“We saw some real talent there and very much hope this workshop has inspired them to put some of the experience to good use within their own school productions.”
Bruton School for Girls’ summer production of Grease takes place on 29th, 30th June and 1st July and is playing to full houses each night.
