Sport at Bruton School for Girls

With the ever-growing success of women's football in the country, Bruton School for Girls has recently teamed up with Yeovil Town Football Club to deliver an exciting new initiative.

Coach Ollie Lander took on the challenge in a 10-week long programme, designed to introduce girls to the basics, this course focuses on developing the girls’ skills and enthusiasm alike.  Twenty-five senior school girls excitedly took up the challenge to leave their hockey sticks behind and use their feet, without fear of being pulled up for a foul!

BSG have also recently introduced a new sports website – http://sport.brutonschool.co.uk/

This website enables you to view team fixtures and sheets, match reports, current photos, map locations, directions and particular teams fixtures for the whole term (with calendar sync.) at the push of a button and so much more!

Pip Davies, Director of Sport, says: "The sports department now has ability to easily update the sport-related website content, which enables us to post the most up to date information from results to cancellations, team sheet changes to action photos as soon as they happen!”

“The girls love reading their match report and seeing photos from the weekend matches. The feedback we have had has been extremely positive and has only served to move the department forward,” she added.

In aid of Sport Relief this year, Bruton School for Girls are hosting a Charity Concert on Friday, 21st March, organised by the charity committee headed up by Sixth Former Olivia Edwards.  There will be complimentary drinks and canapés on arrival at 7pm with the main musical performances from BSG students and other local schools.  During the interval there will be refreshments including a cake sale and raffle.  The evening concludes with DYME, an upcoming rock band from Glastonbury.  Tickets are £7.50 for adults and £5 for students and can be obtained from reception@brutonschool.co.uk.  Profits from the event will go to Sport Relief.
