With Rudolf resting before his long journey on Christmas Eve, Santa needed some alternative transport for a ‘flying’ visit to Sunny Hill Prep School in Bruton and thanks to the Royal Navy, he really was able to fly in …. by helicopter!
Children at the all-girls’ school gathered round to watch the helicopter expertly maneuvered into one of the school’s fields by pilots from the Royal Navy’s 825 Naval Air Squadron based at Yeovilton.
One of the pilots said:
“It was delightful to see how excited the children were and to give them the opportunity to see the helicopter at close quarters – I think there might even be a few future pilots amongst the girls!”
Mrs Helen Snow, Head of Prep at Sunny Hill added: “There were great cheers as Santa emerged from the helicopter bearing gifts for the Prep School children. It made it a very special day for all concerned and the sight of Santa heading off in a helicopter is one that will stay with us!”
