The Governing Body at Bruton School for Girls is delighted to announce the introduction of a new Sixth Form Scholarship Award.
Headmistress, Nicky Botterill, explained: “Thanks to a very generous benefactor and a much appreciated donation from the Visitors of Sexey’s Hospital, the Governors have decided to offer a 100% scholarship for a local day student to study A Levels for two years, starting in September 2016.
“Our Sixth Form’s reputation for academic success continues to grow: last summer 85% of all students gained A*-C grades and an impressive 75% of the A Level cohort achieved either an A or A* grade. The percentage of girls with three or more passes at A Level was the best for three years and jumped from 89% in the previous year to 95% in 2015. In addition, this year we had five Oxbridge candidates, of whom three have received firm offers to read Mathematics at St Catherine’s College, Oxford, Natural Sciences at Trinity College, Cambridge and Natural Sciences at Pembroke College, Cambridge.”
Mrs Botterill went on to say that this new Scholarship would extend the opportunity to experience all that Bruton has to offer to a local girl who might otherwise not be able to afford it.
“I absolutely believe that the experience of studying at our Sixth Form, and the additional opportunities that brings, will be a life-changing opportunity for one lucky student and will prepare them for University and life beyond.”
