Year 11 student, Lottie Garratt, from Bruton School for Girls, was literally jumping for joy after being selected to represent Somerset County Schools in several athletics categories.
The sixteen year-old was selected for the ‘Combined Events’ and competed in the heptathlon at the South West Championship held at Yeovil at the end of June. Lottie achieved four personal bests, and a new heptathlon best score in the competition with her team finishing a close second overall.
Lottie’s other recent achievements include finishing first in the javelin, second in the high jump and third in the 300 meters at the Somerset AA Championship in May. She represented County Schools again at the end of June at the South West Championship in the 300 meter hurdles.
Mrs Pip Davies, Head of Sport at Bruton School for Girls, said: “Lottie’s achievement is all the more amazing considering she managed to fit her training around her GCSE revision and exams. She’s done so well and we are delighted to see her hard work and training has paid off.”
