Good Schools Guide Review

Good Schools Guide Review

The Good Schools Guide has unveiled its latest review for Bruton School for Girls - the first since Nicola Botterill took up the post of Headmistress in 2012 - and has come away saying how the school should be placed in the spotlight.

Mrs Botterill explained: “We know that when parents research their school choices, in addition to what they hear from friends and colleagues via word of mouth, they will often refer to publications like the Good Schools Guide to get a feel for the school and whether it will suit their child.

“In Somerset and Dorset we have some of the country’s most prestigious, sought after schools and yet they single us out to say that ‘in our view a spotlight should be shone on it’ – high praise indeed!

“But what gives us equal pride is hearing that our pastoral care is ‘highly, highly, highly rated’.  Recognition for our ability to give the girls the individual attention from a pastoral, as well as an academic point of view is delightful to read and a fitting reflection on the ethos, discipline and teaching expertise we have at this school.”

Another recent accolade for the all-girls’ school, came from the Department for Education’s 2014 exam league tables which show BSG as the top performing school for GCSEs within a 15 mile radius stretching across Somerset and Dorset and the top performing school in Somerset at A Level for two facilitating subjects- the tougher academic subjects which universities favour.

“We are very pleased that our reputation as a caring, friendly school which succeeds in helping every girl exceed their expectations is finally being ‘put in the spotlight’,” added Mrs Botterill.

The guide provides an alternative source of information about the school for parents researching school choices and we are delighted to share with you the full review for both Bruton School for Girls and Sunny Hill Prep School.
